Wanted to replace the battery on my TomTom Go 5000. Watched videos on youtube. Ordered battery + set of auxiliary tools from subtel.co.uk NB. You really need those tools! Subtel shipped the equipment from Germany within a few days. The communication (notification of purchase and notification of shipment) was excellent! So no Chinese states and 6 weeks of waiting for your order! Detaching the top cover from the Tomtom was not easy. Cap is not glued, but is attached to the bottom plate with lugs at a few points. Do not force it. Disconnecting cable plugs and installing battery is relatively easy. I kept the youtube video on standby to watch back from time to time. The old battery was attached with adhesive tape. I also taped the new battery so that it would not move during the assembly work. Then reassembled the cable plugs and screwed the plate in place. Fastened the two parts together and reattached the two screws at the bottom. Charged Tomtom in 3 hours and everything worked perfectly again! Also the memory: names, routes etc. You don't need to be a skilled technician for this replacement job. Subtel provided good material and within a few days. Reliable company!
